ok-i have been hearing the tern that car is rice alot--what would you guys consider rice--my car isnt what i think you would call rice..but i have plans for it and dont want it to end up any kind of rice-not fried, steamed, boil bag, minute or spanish rice--so due me a favor and explain what is consider a rice car

(Ricer: from the latin word Ricarius meaning to suck at everything you attempt)

A person who makes unecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to):

- Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder
- Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747
- Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool
- Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself
- Body Kit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire
- Clear tail lights and corner signals
- A "performace intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine)
- Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow. Please note that some Supras, Skylines, WRX's and other higher performance imports are designed to go fast, and are therfore not always considered rice. It really depends on the severity of the case.

The "ricer" attempts to make their car "performance" by adding the modifications listed above. These ricers are not confined to any one ethnic group or color, however different ethnic groups are known for certain styles.
Honda Civics with big spoilers and 4" exhaust tips are considered to be ricers.

it's funny you didn't state the celica in your description above. A buddy of mine almost got into a fight w/celica ricer not 3 days ago.

Hood spoilers, sheepskin seat covers and that tacky looking steering wheel cover. Get the soy sauce out; the rice is almost done

imo i dont think clear corners or clear tails are rice, but everyones entitled to their own opinion, i think it would be rice to not do something you like just because someone else doesnt like it.

hoodspoilers are hot--makes the car different--until you have sat on sheepskin you wouldnt understand-i wanted something soft so i picked those (dont want my factory seats getting messed up-that way i'll get something for the car when i sell it.) the steering cover-well you can get that, that is rice-tacky no- rice yes.

i agree with you rico... sheepskin is AWESOME... my friend has those in his truck... they are sooooooo comfortable... and i don't think it's rice to have the hoodspoilers first... now if you had home-made ones out of metal... THAT would be rice... but IMO i don't think it matters what order you put the parts on... just as long as they aren't crappy lookin or tacky

I also think rice is very much dependent on your point of view. I can guarantee you that lots of people think my GTS is rice, while I just see a car I'm very happy with.

You know what a ricer is? A ricer is a term made up by a person who thought it was cool to make fun of someone. A Bully. So when you go around thinking how much you dont like someone elses personal stuff (i.e. car and mods) all your are doing is being a bully. I think its time people stop with this demeaning bullshit stereotypes about cars just because they don't like what they've done to it. Its their stuff,not yours so dont bag on it. Thats my .02

there are many people who dont know much aout the lingo and think that any car with apparent modifications is 'riced out'. they dont realize that the term is suposed to be an insult they just think that is what they are supposed to be called.

this is very true. about normal cars. if its not STUPIDLY modified, its never rice. only things like wood spoilers are. and this: lmao

rice rockets usually try to attempt a show car look. but thier plan basically goes to shit. they usually have the altezza lights with a lame body color like green donut rims with wheel chrome wheel covers, dents & sanded down hood to look like Carbon Fiber and most of the time... automatic transmission. ..to put it simple, they are just ugly cars!

again..the point is that its only ugly to you. If they thought that they wouldnt spend their time and money doing it

because there is a certain order of operation when modifying your car and this guy decided to jump right into hood spoiler which doesnt look too god when the car isnt already modified on the outside, so thats why i think people might think of his car as rice, REGARDLESS it doesnt matter because us TuRD's OWN!

close this thread because the original meaning of rice was back in the old old days when people would buy an asian car... and since asians eat rice... thats where it came from... So bascially every owner of a jap car or any car from the asian part of the world is a rice car... it's nothing wrong with it. I respect asian cars it's just the meaning of the word

stop saying crap about peoples cars if there car makes them feel happy and they are happy with how it looks let them be... if the civic took away the hood spoiler and it's lower back spoiler it would look pretty damn sweet i think. but then again honda civics are not my choice of cars.

exactly. thats what i was saying, most ricers are nice cars, they just have really bad/stupid parts that if taken off would make the car really nice, or atleast ok

The liquid form (Saki) is pretty good. The cool thing is, if there were maggots in there, you couldn't tell. Just wash it down with lots of Saki.

A quick carb breakdown:

Saki = liquid rice
Beer = liquid bread
Vodka = liquid potatoes

Now, back when I was a kid in the 70's, we would say "Man, I wanna get me a rice rocket when I turn 16". Meaning...Sport bike. I don't even know when we started calling cars rice. I never even heard that until I joined this site.

I'll bet you isaac could single handedly make the term "Rice" a cool thing.
He once told me that most of the addmins on this site have riced out Celicas, then people were like "Yeah! Mine is rice too." I'm cool like isaac.
