Im reading an install guide from another website for disabling my auto on lights at night. I looked at the fuse box under my dash to find the "yellow wire with green stripe" and found about 3 or four yellow wires . One has no stripe at all, and two have dark stripes. In this picture from the other website, I cant tell if the arrow is pointing to the general fuse box, or to a specific wire to cut. Ill copy and paste the short install guide and picture for you to see. Thanks. ACTUAL INSTALL GUIDE: This is a really easy mod to do. All you have to do is remove your shift boot, and ashtray, etc. Get the the fuse box, and unplug the harness that is on the lower right side of this picture. Once you have it unplugged, you will want to cut wire #17. This wire is Yellowish with a green stripe. You will want to cut it about a inch or two away from the harness connector, so you can reattach it if you sell the car, etc. Once you cut the wire, tape both ends off with electrical tape, and put everything back together. Now the picture which I was questioning above..

I don't know about Texas, but I know some states require that vehicles with DRLs can not and should not be disabled or even tampered with. I'm just warning you!

Why would you want to disable the DRL's? Sounds pointless to me...

Its not the daytime running lights. Its the feature that turns on your low beams automatically when it gets too dark.

Agree with those who disabled their DRL. Disabled them on the first Celi, and also disabled them on my current Celi.
As for the wire to cut, there should be only one yellow wire with green stripes. I tried looking to see if there were wires that was similar but there isn't. Just turn the wire plug the same way as shown in the pic above.

the car looks soo much better w/o DRLs. looks cleaner How does it look cleaner? Its just lights that are already built into your headlamp pods. If it looks so much better, turn the car off first and take a picture. If you're doing underbody, wire them to a hot, like the battery, so you can have them on without the ignition. No need to disable stuff.

Some of you guys are being really dumb about this thread. Even though you disable your DRL's does NOT mean that you can't drive without your lights on. when you see one of those kamakazi teenage driver that was being referred to you can simply turn your headlights on so they can see you better. Disabling your DRL's is one of the best and easiest mods to do. The only reason why cars have DRL's is because some people are retarded and forget to turn their lights on in the dark so then our society had to come up with another "feature" to adhear to the retard drivers in the world.

So by cutting this wire, will it disable my high beams for good? I dont want that to happen.. No, you will have FULL control of your lights. It is basically like any other cars without DRL. You can turn on your low and high beam anytime you want.

if you are responsible enough and dont forget to turn on and off whenever needed, get rid of the DRL.
i personally dont like the DRL, and heres why. the car doesnt look as clean with the lights on as without it. why?
my celica is carbon blue, so its almost black. well when the DRL turn on, my headlights turn to a yellowish color because of the light. the reason why i really like the celica is because of its headlight, and i want my headlights to look as white and shiny as possible. the car is black, and the headlights are white. that looks nicer than black with yellow. since i dont like the stock headlights, i changed them to 6000K HIDs so ill have them looking nicer, brigher, and whiter. with the DRL, HID turns on and off too often, which is not too good and plus if anything happens i have to end up paying 100s since the kit costs alot. so thats why i got rid of the DRL.
polykarb, its personal choice. just because you think its dumb doesnt mean it really is. the only reasons DRL are to help ppl out, but if you can do it urself then do it. i think the white headlights off are shinier in daytime than with the DRLs on. thats why on the manual it says that if you dislike it, go to ur toyota dealership and theyll turn it off for u.
