I'm trying to figure out how to install the neons in the footwells. I bought the switch and two 10" tubes from walmart today. I was wondering how to mount the switche like in this picture. (Below) I was also thinking of connecting the power to the back of the cigarette lighter instead of the battery. Will that work? I also need a picture of the middle part with it removed. I want to see what it looks like behind the cigarette lighter. Thanks

the switch:
unbolt the under steering wheel plastic, two 8mm hex bolts lower left and right corner, feel around, you'll find em... the top is held by clips after removing the bolts tug at it slowly and it will pull off... from here you can pop out either of those two "switch" squares by pinching the clips at the back, they pop right out... use a cutting blade or a rotory tool like a dremel to cut out an appropriate hole or cut-out size for your switch (those like you posted here need a hole and the switch screws on, square wall-switch types need a pretty snug rectangle and the switch itself usually has a clip mechanism built in provided the cutout is snug enough), plop the switch in (connect it ) then replace the okastic and 2 bolts...
cig lighter (works fine, i run 3 devices off it and with no problems):
the cig lighters power comes off another plug that has 4 wires, splice off the two that come off the cig lighter itself... helps to have a voltmeter to check polarity, i forget if the wire colors made it obvious...
i'll try to remember to take pics tomorrow if no one else has already supplied some... [ 02-18-2003, 02:56 AM: Message edited by: AM03GT ]

NEON WIRE COLORS: SILVER = NEG GOLD = POS ... CIG ELECTRICITY FLOW: OUTSIDE CYLINDER = NEG TIP/BOTTOM = POS ... I have two neons and a PSX hooked to my cig... no problems - just make sure you are using the correct gauge wire (my AC/DC converter is 18 gauge and the neons are 24 gauge) ...but I guess it really doesnt matter in the end, since the cig lighter wiring is only 20 gauge [ 02-18-2003, 03:31 AM: Message edited by: isaac ]

Hey Isaac...if I decided to hook up like 4 neons in my car...should I do it by pairs and then hook it up to the cig? Or should I go 4-2-1 and run it to the cig?

hmm and where do I mount the neons to on both sides of the footwells? I'm thinking of using zip ties but I have no idea where to zip tie them to.

i mounted my neons with the provided holes at each end, drilled a small hole into my plastics and used screws to hold the neons...

Well I don't really want to drill, but if I have to I will...I heard about using zipties instead but I don't see how or where you would ziptie them to...

I actually used very sticky double sided tape. Works very well. Heres a pic of the passenger side.
