lol, yea, you have one confused I doubt they will release any more since they are still releasing them except in the united states. So, you could order one from Europe or Japan thumbsup They stopped because sales were low in the US because, imo, they didn't have enough HP in them for people to buy. I mean, yeah, best looking car out there, but when someone likes the look of two cars and then decided to go with hp, celica is probably going to loose.

I am correct that it is just in the US that aren't getting them anymore, correct? Or did they change it to a World Wide thing?

having one imported would be pointless, have to go through all the emission crap
japan will still have it and probably have an 8th gen.
it's possible the 8th gen is the next sports car brought here, just not called a celica if they have a complete new redesign.

Toyota wants to concentrate on developing there hybrid Prius more, along with goals to focus more on trucks, SUVs and sedans. Sports cars is the last thing on there mind, so that's why the axed the Celica. They might bring it back later on (maybe another 10 yrs from now) as they have goals to reproduce the Supra after it got the axe in 1998.

They also discontinued the mr2. Imo, both cars were targeting the tuner market, but with a toyota pricetag. The 2zz didn't do too well (in comparison to others) because of the riskyness of the high compression. Also, like TRDOTC said, the horsepower numbers are too low in stock trim. The Mr2 failed because, ppl would either pay less and get a miata, or pay more and get the s2000. Nothing against either car though. I love my gts. Toyota should have released it in like 96 or around then. It was intended to battle the GSR and Type R, not the EVO and the STI.

See the celica has just been released in countries like India. I know india for sure b/c my friends in india were tellin me about it. Thier still makin thier money in other countries. But 2 I like this celica i don't want them to come out with a newer better looking model than mine ( i don't mean to sound sour) but shit I'm happy with the last style of the celica. And not to mention it looks damn good.
