Hey guys I have a few questions for those of you experienced with trunk systems... How many square feet of sound deadener would i need for my trunk? doors? What weight fiberglass mat should I use? How many square feet/yards of the mat do i need? How much resin do i need? I'm going to be doing two subs and two amps; a sub and an amp on either side of my trunk...and i'm just going to fiberglass the back of it to fit in, and then the front side, but i'm not making it go across my floor etc. At least not yet. Can any of you guys out there help me? also what do you guys think? two 10's or two 12's?

I used about 22.5 square feet of dynamat extreme in the trunk. Fiberglass is gonna depend on how detalied your install is gonna be, I stayed away from glass work, so maybe someone else can help you.

1. i don't know how much deadener to do the whole trunk...i havnt done that personally yet.
2. a 3oz weave would work fine. 2 or 3 layers should be great.
3. depends on how big your box is. measure the surface area of your box and then multiply it by 2 or 3..make sure you leave room for error. mat or weave is usually sold by yards...so round up to the nearest yard amount.
4. fiberglass-to-resin ratios are about 1:1 or 1.5:1 (1 ounce of resin per 1 ounce of fiberglass--so if you are using 3 oz mat, then you would use 3 ounces of resin per yard). 1:1 is fine..but i always find that i do more like 1.5:1 or slightly higher. better to use more than less..polyester resin breaks down the glass and then hardens it. so if you use too little it all won't break down and you'll have a substantially weaker box.
i would do the bottom of your box, personally. not so much that it won't hold--because it will. but for the sound integrity of your subs. a completely enclosed box that doesn't have any 'give' will have a higher sound integrity. this is why it's important to make a very strong, solid box. in a fiberglass box this usually isn't the case because it's solid..but in many mdf enclosures the wood tends to 'bend' when the subs hit--which isn't a good thing at all. the flexing takes energy away from the sound..so just make sure everything is solid..and that your enclosures for each individual sub have close to the right volume of space inside.
nothing wrong with 2 12's..but 2 10's would work fine. as a rule of thumb, 12's will play lower lows, but it'll be just as loud as 2 10's. if you think the 10s get you low enough, then save a few bucks and do that instead of the 12s. if you really want the lows..go with the 12s.

welcome bro one thing i noticed after re-reading my post..im not sure if its like 1.5 to 1 according to yardage...i think its square feet actually. so do like a 1.5:1 or 2:1 ratio of fiberglass-to-resin.

Rockford is good. I have rockford subs and a rockford amp. If I was to do it again I would probably get JL's or rockfords again.
