i have come to the realization that on the toyota celica gt 1zz engine. The intake manifold where it is welded to the flange, has a guge goober of a weld on it. I plan on removing mine and grinding down the weld to open up the air flow. I will be letting you all know if this makes much of a difference...wich I'm suspecting it should...and also would appreciate any input as to wether anyone has done it yet.

Just be careful. I would assume the weld is that big for a reason. Maybe check out if anyone else has noticed this also before you start grinding.

Will it really make a noticable difference? I would just leave it rather than risking a leak.

Still have yet to do it, Got to take the time at work to do it. As for your replies...It will make a difference. Smoother air stream. Should anyways. Also its not there for any reason other than the flange was welded to the intake manifold instead of the outside as most cars for appearance benifits i assume. But it wont leak. Just gatta buy the new gaskets first. Will let you all know soon.

^^^ well he is trying it out to see what happens. betcha if this works, a bunch of other people would follow suit. just like the butterfly valve mod.
