I'd say, start here and go on from there. There are Toyota technical papers for disassembling the drums and changing the shoes. Good luck https://celicahobby.com/gallery/picture.php/15300/category/br

No kim unless you've ran them until they disintegrated There are two holes that are threaded (12mm) run two bolts in them and tighten them alternately until the drum pops off. If you've never done drum brakes before I suggest you get some help from someone who has because there are springs in there that have to go back in order and you'll need to adjust them properly when you reassemble them.

Oh well thats different then. You can remove the entire brake assembly off of the spindle carrier from behind (prolly four bolts) and the spindle carrier just comes off at its pivot points. Should be a piece of cake man Hit me up if you need help Kim.

sure will, thanks. the thing is I don't know where to start really. about a week ago i slid and hit a curb with a left rear wheel and bent the lower conrol arm and the drum brake doesn't sit right. the drum is on a crooked axis against the back plate. so i'm guessing its the spindle. I've already replaced the lower arm bar and all the components that coonect to that piece are in place so i doubt there is chasis damage. any thoughts.

Hmmmm.. If you hit hard enough to bend that lower arm then I think you prolly cashed the hub as well I've haven't had to remove the hub carrier off of a new celica yet but the mechanics are the same as the ones I have done. Like I said before the entire brake assembly will come right off by removing the bolts behind it. And you already know how to get the carrier off. Doh! I just priced out the parts for you from my guy and heres the break down $173.00 for the knuckle $279.00 for the hub with bearings (this may be all you need) $46.64 for the brake assembly backing plate You'll need to get the new hub pressed in to the knuckle

Any machine shop or good auto repair shop can press that for you.
Let me ask this question. When you spin the wheel does it wobble or is it just not in the right place?

Hub Try some junk yards Kim you may be able to get the whole side for a few hundred bucks or maybe just the carrier and hub assembly for cheaps.

no i'm just going to order a new hub then get all the brake parts transfered over by a professional, when i get the hub pressed into the knuckle. hopefully they don't charge me too much, this guy is expensive, i learned this the hard way but he's extremely skilled.
