I applied to 2 Toyotas and a few other places to be a new car salesman. Anyone do this or know anyone who does this? I was just wondering how big of discounts do you get out of a car? And what do you usually make hourly and out of commission? Anyone know?

i heard you can drive any car you want paid for by the dealership but obviously you can't mod it or probably exceed a certain mileage, so i'd imagine it's like a free lease

I have a cousin who sells for toyota of ventura in california. 1st of all you don't get paid hourly you get paid commission only. So basically you better sells some cars if you want to earn money. He told me he could buy cars at the wholesale price and can get 2 cars per year for family members at wholesale price. I doubt every single dealership is the same though so i don't know.

hope you have a few months of money saved up. the first few months will kill you, then it starts to come together. be prepared to be crooked and start screwing with people. commission turns you into a prick. i liked my salary and hourly better. i put so much pressure on people. but if you are good, you will have it down. good luck man!!

^^^WORD! good luck though. that are a lot of perks when working as a car salesman - discount on parts (TRD) and cars at wholesale - a GTS 6-speed would prolly cost you somewhere around $19k
