hi all,
i am one of the many unfortunate souls who drive an auto gts. in thinking of what my next mod should be, i thought that a transmission swap would give me the most gains and potential. what are the things i would need to do to get this done? how much will it cost? and how does a swap affect the car in the long run? no flames please ... thanks in advance!

keep the auto and save your money. its not a big deal...you have sportshift and you can shift when you want JUST LIKE IN A MANUAL!!!
seriously spend it on something worth while

that is true.. no telling how much money that would cost.. you might as well either fix ur car up or do an engine swap.. and make that bad boy fast enuff that it doesnt matter if its stick or auto

Ask yourself one question. Is the juice worth the squeeze?

there are people on the "other" celica site that have done this. i saw prices with install ranging from 1500 to 3000k. if you get parts from someone who wants to sell their tranny, you can get a tranny for like 800 bucks, or you can go find one at a junk yard. if you got most of the parts off a wrecked 6spd GTS you could possibly do it for around 1500-2000 installed. something i am lookin into for myself as well.

yea, changing to a six speed WOULD Mean changing your whole engine...that means you dont know what has gone wrong with the the one youd get, plus the mileage would probably suck...just stick with yours unless you decide to trade in.

IMO just leave it a sportshift or trade it in for a 6 speed.

Ummmmm, if a sequential tranny could be added to our cars, that would be awsome. But could any ECU work with it.

sportshift doesnt mean you can switch gears like a manual, a lot of times the celi wont let you reach certain rpms with the automatic. plus the COOL factor of a manual is a lot better then an auto, lol, if you want it, do it, dont let no one stop you!
