Last night my brother and I converted my 02 celica GTS rev limiter from 7600 to 8400rpm, I used the install guide on this site:

8400 rpm conversion for 02 Celica GTS
by Griffen

It was easy, and works well, I'm am so pleased...

Thank you

Now I have more confidence in the car. My brother the big Honda fan now gives me the respect I've been deserving since I got the car. ( I used to have a 97 Prelude Type SH) goodjob

The 2002 GTS's ONLY have a rev limiter that limits how long we can stay in lift. Its especially damaging to Auto GTS's that only have a few gears to work with.

No, and correct me if i'm wrong here, but I think it forces us to redline at 7900 RPM in most gears. I know in my Auto GTS that 1st gear redlines at like 6500 RPM. Most Auto GTS people from other years can get to 50 something mph in 1st gear. I can only get to about 28 mph before I have to let it shift. That means 2nd gear is a LONG time out of lift.

You spent too much wasted time on our boards. You're just wasting your life. You come on our boards and reply to our threads yet still don't know crap. Then you go and decide to say something completely stupid. Your posts do not contribute to ecelica in any way shape or form. Pull this crap one more time and it will be your last.

Here is the link : http://www.newcelica.org/other/installs/02revlimiter/index.htm

On the first page of the install guide it will tell you the parts needed and the part numbers.

I got the 2000-2001 knock sensor, FIPG, throttle body gasket, & intake manifold gasket from Toyota of Greenville, SC. I called around and checked several other toyota dealerships and they gave me the best deal of $130.00 for the knock sensor. I got the 2000 ECM from a buddy at a salvage yard for only $200 verses about $900 from Toyota. Make sure though that if you do buy from a salvage yard that the part is guaranteed.

No, I dont have upgraded cams- at this time I dont know of anyone who has cams available for a 02 Celica. I dont need upgraded cams to rev to 8400 rpm, which is the designated factory rev limiter. thumbsup

Retail on the knock sensor is 169 bucks I think.
Here is Toyota of Greenville, SC's #

1-864-281-1120

Maybe they will hook you up with that price ask about shipping...good luck. thumbsup

It took me about 4 to 5 hours but I took my time, made sure I did everything correct. Here is a picture of all the parts needed except the FIPIG sealant:

one more word like that to any moderators or to anyone in general on this board, you can consider yourself gone. It's now up to them for what to do for you saying that. angry

Greer! Awesome, you oughta take it to the Dragway now that the redline's been raised. There's gotta be a couple of more horses and torque at the top end given your other mods. Could be worth a tenth of a sec or two.

Well looky what we have here a wannabe moderator rofl rofl j/k man

Yea the guy is prob gonna get banned, but he kinda does have a point ,if his reply was in a mature manner, which it wasnt. I think the moderators close too many topics, I know they want Ecelica.com to a be a great site, which it is. But doesnt have to be perfect...

BTW GOOD JOB on the mod thumbsup

mine is about that range too, but i consider it 7800 cos the lift hits so fast that it starts jumping back as soon as it hits 7900...
btw..is your auto? cos i told the service guy, he said he is not sure, and probably because it's an auto...
so i wonder..cos i know a guy who has Manual 03 GTS which goes up to 8300-8300 red-line..
EDIT: oops i meant 8300-8400 red-line

My Car is a 6 speed, I think your right the auto computer may limit your revs, the part #'s specified on the instructions are manual ecms.
