Looks like the plastic from manufacturing to keep it from scratching. Does it feel like thin plastic, or does it flake off like clear coat?

Whatever it is, it doesn't come off easy, scraped a little of it off with my thumbnail. Sux if it's the clearcoat.

I put in a power antenna and my paint did the same thing. it started at the hole. I got lucky and was ably to cover it with a gromett.
