Yesterday on the trip back from LA to SF on I-5 my check engine light came on. I was cruising at about 80mph with cruise control on. I stopped at the near-by Shell gas station and checked my oil and coolant level, nothing seemed wrong. However I noticed that every time I start my car, I hear liquid splashing around for a few seconds, ever since I hit the curb and jumped it a couple months ago. I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but that CEL bothers me. Any ideas? I have a 2000 Celica GTS 6speed with 64k miles.

Hmmm, I'd check all the lines going to the airbox, something might have been knocked around. Or just take it in to get the code read.

Do you have any mods done? Sometimes resetting the ECU will help!

well I went to autozone and borrowed the device to check what's wrong and this is what it said:

P0420 Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)

1. catalytic converter defective
2. engine misfire or running condition
3. large vacuum leak
4. engine oil leakage into exhaust valve guide seals piston rings
5. refer to AZ commercial preferred customer

What'd you guys think the problem might be? The guy at Autozone said the O2 sensor might have been knocked out or something.
