Hey guys, I want an upgraded chip for my car, but can't seem to find one. Anyone have any idea? Also, about how much should they run and will a shop install it for me?
Thanks!

you have seen the threads by Cr4sh and Ryo, right? if you did then you know that the only "chips" that will work are the GReddy E-Manage and Apexi PowerFC. "powerchips" from ebay or others that cost $20 dont do anything at all. GReddy and Apexi are very expensive, but i noticed that "money is not a problem" with you go get the Apexi PowerFC. shop installs vary.

Upgrade Chip???? There is not a "chip" that will work for our car.. Don't waste your money buying one because in like a weak the ecu just resets to factory settings.
You can either buy the Apexi Power FC (full stand Alone) for about $1200 or you can get the Greddy E-manage (piggy-back) for about $400. Those are the only 2 systems that work with our ECU right now.

I've actually gotten one of those "chips" that are just stupid resistors LOL. I'm looking at G-Force ECU upgrade, but I can't find one for a 2003 Celica...just 98 and below. I don't want to spend over $500 really on it, especially if it doesn't have many benefits.

well make sure you do some research and ask other celica owners if they have tried the G-Force ECU Upgrade. honestly, i've never heard of it. Then again, I've never heard of JetChip before either. make sure its not like JetChip.

first off, do you have a GT or GTS you also have a 2003, so if you have a GTS, you had DBW and the power fc and greddy will not work with that (not positve on greddy though)

Thanks for the help guys The PowerFC, because it is a full ECU replacement, will not work with an automatic, because it doesn't contain the routines for shifting through your gears. The Greddy Emanage will work, however, because it is an add-on to your current ECU. I've heard a rumor that someone developed a PowerFC for automatics, but no one I know of has bought it yet...just go with the Emanage. EDIT: the Emanage does work with DBW, for the same reason it works with automatics.

I hate messing with the computer of the car...what all does it do?
