Celica Forums General Discussion General WEIRD NOISES FROM MUFFLER?

It all started when I left my celica parked in my gargage for about 8 months. Never been started or anything like that during those months. Finally I just thought it would be a good idea to turn on the engine and so I did. After about 5 to 10 minutes the muffler starts to make noises and I also noticed that the engine got louder too. I still have no clue what these problems are from. Can someone help me out please...

8 months is way too long w/o starting it up...who knows what it could be tho..

I have a gasket that has gone bad at the muffler and the cat connection. it rattles when I am crusing through a parking lot. I found it by the black powder under the connection.

damn...i was wondering what that rattle was!

Anyone else found the same problem??? If you look under the car, just FWD of the right rear tire you can see the connection!! wipe your finger across the bottom of it ans see if black powder is left on your finger.
