I was wondering what a reasonable price to pay for a 2005 celica gts was. I went to a local dealor near philadelphia pa and was quoted on a one with a boatload of trimmings, power windows, gts-spoiler, auto sequential shifter, leather seats, side air bags, 4 wheel ABS, 16 inch alloys, etc. The sales wanted to sell it to me for $26,500 USD. I asked if I could get one with no options he said they don't make gts with no options. so does that mean I gotta pay close to 26 G's for a new one ? should I try to downgrade to gt then, if the only difference between a gt and gts is the 140 vs 180 hp. Is the gts worth it? comments puleese!

$26K for a new GTS sounds about right.
GT vs. GTS is pretty much up to the buyer. Both have pros and cons.
GT Same great body style and handling Better MPG Cheaper gas (87 instead of 91) Better low end No worries on Lift Bolts breaking No annoying Reverse Beep
GTS Lift/Better High End 16" Rims Leather seats ABS 6 Speed O yea, did I mention LIFT!
Both are great car IMO. I used to drive an Auto 00 GT and it was great for cruising. The car looks good (It had a WW Kit) and handles like a champ. No worries on maintenance. Only thing that I had to change out was tires, oil, filters.
Now I drive an 00 6 Speed GTS. Had to replace a few things like the Lift Bolts, Timing Belt (Problem also occurs on the GT), and a few more maintenance stuff. But Lift is pretty fun to experience.

thanks for the fast feedback. so you are saying if I can haggle that sticker down to 23500 or 24500 I'd be robbing the dealer? the only thing that I really care about is the 40 extra ponies, so would I be better served with a gt and use the savings on an engine swap + supercharger?

I assume you are only looking at the manual trannys! If you are geting an auto, forget anything about preformance and just go for the styling of the car. You are doing right by asking about modding question now. I use my car as a daily driver, on an 80 Mile commute, so a turbo, at this time, is out of the question! You didn't post your age. I don't know if insurance is an issue for you. If you want preformance off the lot the GTS is a no brainer, I'm glad the guys here guided me in the right direction! Hope I helped

Yea, are you going to be getting a standard or Auto? If Auto, get the GT for sure. Don't get the Auto GTS.

Yeah, you'll probably be disappointed with the power (or lack thereof) in an auto GTS. Racing really isn't much of an option on either, so if you must get an auto, save yourself some money and go GT. Plus you can save up and go the TRD SC route, which works wonders on an auto GT.

26,000 is a little high. my gts was bought for 25,600 after taxes and a $1500 100,000 mile waranty but i dont know how much they tack on for a auto tranny. like these guys said i dont think it would be worth your time or money to buy an auto gts you might as well get a gt and save some money on the purchase price, insurance, and gas.

Don't buy brand new from a dealership, buy a used GTS you will save a lot of money, I know because I bought a brand new GTS in '03 and in the first year it depreciated $12 000.

For the s/c, you need the s/c (of course), piggy-back or standalone ECU, new hood, and install and tuning. Would actually cost more, but you'd have a better powerband.

has to be an 05 for $26,000 rather than an older one (same style) for under $15,000? is the 05 with no mileage really worth the extra $10,000+ rather than a gts with lets say 40,000 miles?
