The main thing that is causing my 00 GT to go down is mileage. thumbsup

Try to sell it private, more money that way. I went to a local toyota dealer and asked them how much I could trade my former 97 celica for and got quoted $5500. I was like HELL NO, then I put it up on carsoup.com and autotrader.com and sold in 1 week for $8000.

if all else fails you can keep typing the specs into kbb.com every month... and if it goes down next month... you'll know to sell it before that month is up...

but yeah... i'm almost 100% positive that the value will go down in august... or whatever month that the new models come out... i'm pretty sure it's august though

I was selling my 2000 Black Celica GT (auto) last year in July completely stock (had nothing done to it, to keep the value up) for $11,000 according to KBB.Com, but I wasn't getting too many hits off of that. I lowered it to 10,000 and I instantly got a lot of hits.

I had enough miles where it was roughly around 14,500 per year average which brought down the price of the car a little along with the color of black. The dealer would only give me MAYBE $6000 for the car... and that was a major "Hell No!!" so I sold it privately for 10,000 with ease. It was a little bigger pain in the arse, but so much worth it since half of that went for the down-payment of my new Celica GTS.

Cars are always going to depricate. Your car will be worth less in a few months. Every quater the true market value of used cars is adjusted. Only a few hundreds dollars at most. Cars lose value as they age. It shoudln't change that much. You will have more miles and some more wear on the car so it will be a little less valuable. Hope you don't lose too much.
