Hi, Does anyone know how to remove the front emblem on the grill of a 2000 G7? I just need to get the chrome badge off, so I can replace it with a colored JDM emblem! Can I just pull it out, or is it held in place with a nut or something behind the small grill? This is what I want to replace it with: You don't have to take off the front bumper just to get the emblem off? Cheers

I saw that install guide, but why do you need to take the bumper off and then the grill just to heat up the emblem to get it off?
Can't you just heat it up without taking the dumper off?
Is it screwed in or is it held in place with double sided tape??

I think Isaac knows enough about his celica, so if he says to take of the front bumper it is probably needed maybe because the grill is screwed into place, or maybe because it's a shitload easier

A) you can take your chance by trying to heat up the glue WITHOUT melting the plastic, and take the chrome emblem off
OR
B) Buy a whole new grill for $30 and emblem for $11. You can paint the new emblem for $4 or just get them colored from toyota for $42 (they call them "gold package", but the emblems are still plastic and come in several different colors)
...
I decided it wasnt worth trying to take apart the one I had, so instead I went with (B) and bought a new one and painted it the color I wanted... and this is why i first suggested that you remove your front, so that you can remove the grill - WITH the logo entact.

So isaac, if I just want to replace the badge, I can just heat it up and "wedge" it out! Is the badge just held in the grill via double sided tape and it's only the grill is held in by a screw? Cheers for your help!

BTW... if you look at the drawing of the badge and the grill - you will notice that there are three 'centering pegs' that are used to keep make sure your badge sits centered into the grill assembly (you probably have these pegs on your new emblem as well) if you heat up the current badge with a hair-dryer and try to peel it away from its current placement, you run a very high chance of snapping these fragile centering pegs... then you may have wished that you too had gone with my (B) suggestion ..i've been there ...i've done it before i just hope that rather than learning from your own costly mistakes, learn from other's mistakes...

Thanks isaac, I will have a look to see if I can get the grill out without taking the bumper off ? Just a couple more questions, I want to paint the rear badges black. Is it best to strip the chrome off or just apply the paint ontop? Lastly in your install guide/diagram, it has listed a Retainer, Emblem 93560-14014... what is this?

Has anyone got any tips on how to paint the rear badges (the TOYOTA & VVTI)? Would the paint stay on top of the silver or is it best to strip the silver off? Thanks
