I was wondering if a TRD exhaust and a turbo is a good combination? I heard that when you go turbo you have to get a 3in exhaust. So is the TRD compatible with a turbo kit? Also how long would an original clutch wear out with a turbo kit? I would assume pretty fast, but want to know for sure so I can have time to sae up.

You might be able to use the kazuma with a turbo but not the sport. with f/i you dont want any form of back pressure at all. you want that shit outta there as fast as possible thats why you pretty much have to fabracate an exhuast with 3" pipe.

anybody else got more to add to that

From what I hear the clutch goes right away. You will want to install it while the turbo is being installed.

Turbo recomends atleast 2.5 inch of piping and 3" customer turbo is always better. Clutch will wear out depending on how much boost you are pushing and agressive you drive. With such torque increase, it is advisable to change your clutch, and flywheel. And it is always advisable to do this at the same time while you are installing you turbo to save on time and labor cost.

If you are planning on pushing up the boost to 8-10 psi then you will need internal upgrades and possible tranny upgrade if you run somewhere 13-15 psi.

Well the turbo is already on the car. It is a 2000 celica GTS with a custom turbo. The seller said it was built for show only so never raced it or took it to the track. Thats why she is still running on stock clutch. She said she only boosted @5PSI. I am probably going to be boosting at 5 PSI also before I get an aftermarket clutch.

Specs.
2000 Celica GTS 6 spd with 43K miles

Turbonetics T3 Turbo @ 5 psi
Delta External 35mm Wastegate
Spearco Front Mount Intercooler
Blitz DD Blow Off Valve
370 CC Injectors
Custom Intercooler and Intake Piping (Powedercoated Blue)
Custom Exhaust Manifold
Dyno'd at 232 hp/162 ft lbs. of torque (but not tuned)

So what do you guys think about that set- up?

Ive got the Kazuma and it works great. I have a custom DP with it and no cat so its pretty much strait pipe. I ran my stock clutch for about 4 months on 12psi, it would slip if I ever got on it, but it was driveable and pretty fast.


Custom turbo....Jealous Much??

12 psi on stock? no wonder it slips... that's a lot of power for the stock clutch. hs2g you with new clutch you can increase your boost. don't forget to grap a fuel pump and LSD.

The GTS came stock with about 110 ft/lbs or tq right? So 162 seems pretty good with 5PSI boost right? I was planning on ACT HD Street clutch kit from Monkeywrench. I'm pretty sure that can handle 5-8 PSI? I really don't need the flywheel right?

sounds like a good setup, you are going to need some bigger injectors and an upgraded fuel pump. the only way IM able to run such high boost on the stock internals is due to my 440cc's, walbro 255, and Greddy emanage that always ensures a rich mixture

What kind of Engine managment system are you using?

A light weight flywheel is not necessary, it will actualy hurt spool time inbetween gears because it wont hold the inertia as well as the stock one did and make the turbo/engine have to work harder in mid range RPM after a shift.

She is still running on stock ecu and everything. She said ut was onlt a show car. Never been to the track or raced, just driven around town and to shows boosting at 5 PSI.

So what I need is a fuel management system (Greddy E-Manage) and an ungraded clutch (ACT HD street clutch kit)

Do I really need bigger injectors and fuel pump right now if i'm only boosting at 5-6 PSI right now?

BTW the Celica is going for $15000, I think thats a fair price. I am having an inspection company inspect it for me.
