what's the point of having a hood scoop if you're not going to take in air to the filter. So has anybody ever customized a intake that took in air from the hood scoop?

the stock scoop is small and not high flowing. it does look nice though as opposed to no scoop. assuming you have the stock airbox or a short ram intake, assuming you have a large enough aftermarket scoop to make a significant difference in flow, and assuming you are moving, cooler underhood temps means cooler Intake Air Temperature.

when you say route the air from the scoop to the intake, that may not be possible unless the scoop is on the left side of the car, or very low in the center. perhaps not aesthetically pleasing.

I doubt this will become a discussion on ram air lol. hope not rather.

the scoop ion the celia directs air down the back of the engine to cool the headers. Thats its purpose. If you look under ur hood you have a black vent under the scoop directing it back, and then look behind the engine. I ahve thought about making it "functional" as a ram air type but realistically its not really worth it

I'm not exactly sure of how my strut bar affects airflow path, but judging how I find all sorts of bug splat on my bar behind the scoop (lol), I think in my case the air doesn't go directly back to the header. it may hit the bar and gather under the hood. these are the usual big bugs I collect on my front bumper on SoCal to NorCal trips.

I have Tater's Supra Style Hood...my undre hood temps run much cooler than any of the other celica people...I don't normally sit in traffic, but when I get caught I can see all the heat convection just pouring our of the vents...thank god...serious underhood heat = Engine Death

I think that's why TRD never relase any Strut bar

Same here. Even though I have a stock hood scoop, I still see heat vapor coming out of it. That just mean that it works.
