My goals for my 2000 gts is to hit 300 horse power. As of right now i have AEM Cold Air Intake, DC Headders, and a Thermal Cat-Back. That has me up at around 225-230 horsepower range. Now, I was thinkin of getting a 75 shot of nos to bump it up to 300, but i'd have to beef up the engine first. It can safely handle a 50 shot, which would bump it up to 275-280 hp. That leaves 25 more hp for me to get. What kind of quick, good mods can i get to reach the 300 horse power mark? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hey buddy...you may want to get that to the dyno machine...because there is no way in hell that you have that much horsepower that weak shit. Sorry for being so blunt but it's true and I can't stop laughing at you! Try getting a turbo or supercharger...

yeah man i'm sorry but yeah, you are seriously wrong. there is no way that you could possibly have that much horsepower to the wheels, maybe to the crank but i dought it. i just had mine dynoed about two weeks ago at 165 and the only thing you have more than me is headers. headers wont give you 50 horsepower. sorry.

Thanks for the responses, but i never said that i have that kind of power at the wheels. Of course i know that i don't have that at the wheels, but i've had several professionals tell me that each part alone adds about 8-10 horse power, but when you get them working together they add a lot more. If you got the intake, adding a gauranteed 18 horse power i might add, suckin in more air, you got the headers now pumpin out more exaust, because the intake is bringin in more air, into the cat-back. I've had several professionals tell me this. Any way, i just want recommendations for 25 horsepower.

I've had several professionals tell me this. Any way, i just want recommendations for 25 horsepower. It goes against common sense, but whenever you add on more mods, it lowers the increase in horsepower. If you have an intake and exhaust, and then add on a header, you gain about 1 whp. If you have no mods and add on the header, you gain almost 10 whp. And an intake does not add a "gaurenteed 18 horse power". An auto loses about 23 percent through the drivetrain and a manual loses about 15 percent on the celica. So take your numbers and do the math, your really far off. As far as gaining another 25 horsepower, you will want to look into the new cams that are coming out by TPR. Like everyone said, if you want a chance of 300 hp, you need to get a turbo and build up your internals.

also...since you have a GTS with the DC headers...
many dynos show that you really lose HP throughout the power band.

As for the intake,it DOES add 18 horse power. You can check the specs on it. http://www.aempower.com/product_intake_app.asp. The aem cold air intake gaurantees 18 horse power w/ 15 lbs of torque. And as for the lowering the increase in performance w/ the more parts i mod, i still don't get it. I feel dumb, but you have to explain that again. Thanks again for all your input.

this i so great. I am sorry but the only way you are going to get to those number effectively at whp or crank is with turbo. And yea as they all said, the headerrs for GTS have been proven to have no gain. if anyhtign ur currently at about 200 at the crack get PFC to gain some more but realistically you need turbo. you cna do turbo and nos then get some better number

You are a definition of a RICER. Why don't you just get those intakes that look like intercoolers? They are mounted at the front so more air would be pushed in right?
Your car right now is probably somewhere around 170-175WHP. Add on 15% and that would give you around 200BHP. So whoever is telling you that those mods are giving you those gains, ask them to prove it to you. Tell them to dyno it for you or whatever. They will sway anything to sell their product to you.

our car sucks for moddding. you can get a good 20whp off adding an exhaust and headers to an 80hp honda civic which is huge gains, but it's because the stock exhaust sucks so much. I think the major problem with our car is that it's already a 1.8 180hp naturally aspirated engine. that's pretty damned good for naturally aspirated thats 100hp per liter without a turbo. so it's already engineered really well it's hard to improve upon it, and when you try you get very small results and at a cost such as hydrolock bogging in case of intake or added weight in cases of some exhausts. so yeah if you put an intake on a different car you can probably get 18 crank hp but on ours realistically 8 crank and 5 wheel. the only way your going to see 300crank hp is going to be a turbo, if you spend a lot of money you might be able to see 200something maybe 240 if you spend a ton, get the tpr cams for 1200 when they come out, bump the compression on the pistons up to 12.5 instead of 11.5, intake, headers, kazuma exhaust, and Power FC, port and polish on your heads, but then your at over what you'd pay for a turbo that'd give you more the tally on these naturally aspirated items is around 5k or more. Nitrous is a good cheap option for a lot of extra HP and it'll give you about the same HP gains as a stage 1 turbo safely, so your right in the nitrous department I think, you can deffinately hit a pretty high crank hp mark with some nitrous, but it's only fun for drag racing 'cause you can't be spraying all the time unless you've got like a 100lb nos tank filling up your back seats and trunk.

I only reason why I flamed him is because we wouldn;t listen to any of our advice. The first couple of posts were telling him that he wouldn't gain that much or he doesn't have that much. But he was being stubbern and wouldn't listen. So why would you go on a forum and ask question but won't listen to the inputs? If he think those "PROFESSIONALS" were actually helping him out, then why not just ask them for help. The person that probably told him a header would work really well with I/E probably don't even own a Celica and just thought it would. Yes it probably would work well on other cars like Hondas but not Celicas, it is DYNO proven that it doesn't work well.

Why go turbo and boost @5-8PSI?

damn people be nice to the noob i mean he even admited he doesn't know anything about cars... one thing to remember is are cars don't respond as well as honda's do to mod... i mean according to DC the intake header and exhaust gains 18 hp on a RSX but for a celica ur luck to get 12hp... header for the celicagts don't really work i don't know why but they just don't the best mod for the celica gts is the Apex-i Power FC but that cost about 1000 bucks... you need to talk to lucky317 he knows the most about the gts i hope no one scared you aways... this is supose to be a friendly site
i've been changing but you'll never see me now now i'm blaming you for everything

LOL. Let's be easy on this guy.
First off, you ain't putting down 225 to the crank. That would be about 190whp to the wheels, and only a couple people have attained that.
Secondly, whoever said GTS's don't respond as well to mods as Hondas is dead wrong. It's actually the opposite. I've never ever ever seen any honda engine make 32 whp anywhere in the power band from an axle back exhaust.
As for actual power you're making. I put down about 200 to the crank (175 wheel) with my TPR I/E...and thats the best performing exhaust and intake. So for you, I'd estimate about the same.
Oh yea, and there is no chip. lol. Don't let them get to ya.

TPR Intake! - Injens high end with AEM's low end and NO BOGGING! TPR EXHAUST! - Exhaust made 10.5 whp peak and 32 whp at 6300 on my car!!!

yeah man i'm sorry but yeah, you are seriously wrong. there is no way that you could possibly have that much horsepower to the wheels, maybe to the crank but i dought it. i just had mine dynoed about two weeks ago at 165 and the only thing you have more than me is headers. headers wont give you 50 horsepower. sorry. lol..i'm sorry but does anyone see anything wrong with this post?? the last time i check our celi only have 1 HEADER..
