The term lift comes from the technology that creates it. The valves, lift or open more & for longer durations in the higher RPMS of the engine. This of course lets more air & therefor more fuel into the engine & this creates more horsepower. The term hitting lift is used because lift tends to be sudden & very noticeable. Similar to turbo, it kicks in & you can feel the horsepower. Basically the engine goes from about 150 to 180 horsepower when it hits. For Honda is V-TECH & now the new intelligent V-TECH.

Hope this helps Clyde. wave

Ya its basically a mini turbo. You gain an extra 30 or 40 confused horsepower instantly as soon as you hit 6200 RPM.

ok in basic terms, this is only available on a 2zz engine or celica gts , in a celica gts when the rpm reaches 6000 you will feel a significant boost in power and will push you back in the seat a little similar to a turbo feeling, to fully understand this i would suggest test driving a celica gts and let us know what you think afterward

respect the gt-s

LIFT is a point in the RPM range when the car switches over to a more aggressive program (cam to be exact), thus feeding in a lot more AIR into the engine, thus giving you a 40hp BOOST. Only the GTS has it.

when around 6k oil pushes out bolts that wedge under the cam so it hits a second lobe which would normally be dormant that opens the vales wider and for a longer time
