I'm about to put a quick release adaptor with a new steering wheel to replace my old one and ummm, well I talked to some guy about it and he told me if I had an airbag, and I touched something, it could blow up in my face. I though it was pretty funny but I don't wanna die... Anyone know if that's true..? Should I do that myself ? wtf

You have to disconect the battery and let the residual energy disapate from the airbag system. It holds a charge so if you crash and lose power the airbag may still deploy. Now for taking it off the steering wheel...I wouldn't pry it off or anything. Just unbolt it from the back (I think) then when you set the airbag down just make sure the part where you push for the horn is facing up in the air so it dosn't get launched in the air if it does go off.

Yeah, still seems risky eek And how do I let the residual energy dissipate from the airbag system ? Do I have to just disconnect and wait for a while or.. is there something else I got to unplug ??!

I belive it depends on the car. 5 minutes is sticking in my head for some reason but I would wait 30 minutes just to be sure. Just plan ahead. I've taken airbags off before and never had a problem.

in pa your car wont pass inspection if you dont have air bags in it and they came with them. or if it was deployed and you fold it back up and stuff it back it will fail.
