(I just joined, thanks for having me)
So I had a check engine light on in my 2000 Celica GTS, (turns out it was a purge valve) and it needed inspected. It's almost ready to go, but the shop says that the sensors need to reset so they can be sure that the check engine light won't come back on again. Originally he said that they should reset after about 60 miles, then he said 150. I'm over 300 miles now and he said that they still haven't reset. Is there something wrong with my cars computer, or do they usually take this long?

The CEL codes P0440, 0441, 0446 involve the evaporative system with 3 vacuum switching valves and vacuum lines between the gas tank to the throttle body.

It takes usually 400 to 500 miles or more, combined freeway and street driving, before the ECU checks this evaporative system then turn on or off the CELs.

The P0440 code could be caused by leaks at the gas cap.

The P0441, 0446 are likely bad VSVs or leaky vacuum hoses.
