Help..... About 2 wks ago i realized i didnt have any tail lights. So i changed the fuse and as soon as i turned the lights on it blew again. So i took it to a mechanic thinking it would be no problem to fix. 5 days later i pick it up and he had ran a toggle switch and just wired the lights straight up to my battery and my passenger window no longer worked. So i agree to bring it back in a few days for him to fix the window. Well i get home and my driver side window wont go up. So i take it back to him and a couple days later he tells me its ready. I get there and hes fixed the driver side but tells me he cant fix the passenger. So i leave with the car and about 30 minutes into my trip home, it just dies. Its almost like the fuel pump just quits working. Ive never had any problems with this car and ive had it for over a year. Keep in mind, nothing was wrong except the tail lights. Now its stuck on the side of the road. Help please.

Looks like the wires to the brake lights got shorted to chassis ground somewhere.

Trace those wires, pull them away from metal parts, look for cuts or cracks.

The brake lights are powered by an amplifier circuit in a small box, like a cigarette pack, hidden somewhere in the trunk. The wires and terminals may be shorted to something. Check it out.

The shorts will drain the battery and car wont start and wont run without battery power to pump fuel.
