Hello all,

I have an opportunity in front of me to purchase a JDM ECU for my 2002 Celica GT. I've searched this forum and others and have come up with a few consistent concepts of the swap but wanted to see if I could get some more in depth answers/clarity.

So far I've learned:
-I will need to run higher octane if I swap, since the JDM ECU is tuned for a higher octane.
-The JDM ECU will likely not pass US emissions tests.
-I will experience some sort of gain, perhaps 10 horsepower? That seems to be the popular answer.

Now my questions:
-Has anyone else done an ECU swap? What did you pay?
-Just how high octane do I need to run? Will 93 suffice?
-Is there a definitive number for gains from this swap?

Thank you all.

Sincerely,
Connor
