I have an 2000 celica gt its been out of commission cause a blown engine. It was replaced and the timing was done. But it still doesnt turn on, unless the MAF sensor is unplugged. The car will not idle with the MAF plugged in like the fuel is cutting somewhere or there is an air escape.

Hey, welcome.

The Celica and many other cars are designed not to turn on unless the MAF sensor is connected. What do you mean the car will not idle? Like it won't stay on? Like the idle is jumpy?

As soon as I turn the key and press the gas it shuts right off. Without the MAF plugged the car keep running

It sounds like your MAF sensor is no good. It runs with no sensor plugged in because the ECU notices it's absence and runs the car on a generic stored reading. When it's plugged in, the reading is way off, so the car stalls. Replace it with a new or used genuine Toyota MAF sensor. If there's a salvage yard near you, you should be able to find one used for a good price as Toyota used it in many other vehicles.

Is it brand new OEM? If not, is it used known-working OEM?

Interesting. I'll ask around and see what I can come up with.
