Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior Replacing Plastic Sunroof to Glass

Hello,

I have a 2000 Celica GT with the original plastic sunroof currently installed, however it has stopped working. I'm wanting to replace it with a new glass sunroof since the motors seem to have stopped working and the plastic sunroof is a really disgusting yellow and is cracked all over (not leaking though), but I'm unsure of where I should look to purchase the glass sunroof and a new motor as I don't want to purchase a used glass sunroof and it not be in the best condition. Any recommendations of where to purchase new ones?

I just had mine replaced with glass by an auto interior specialist in Orange County, CA. The glass is expensive, but still available from Toyota. I have a 2000 GT and the plastic had cracked and was discolored. The glass is a big improvement.

Honestly, if you're anything like me and are conscious of price, do reconsider buying a used OEM glass sunroof from an 03+ Celica. They're all over eBay with good pictures you can judge by. eBay does a good job these days of making things right if the buyer is unhappy. Pictures don't lie.

Or you could have one made by a shop. But consider the fact that it'll cost you much more for the same outcome. Might not fit as well as an OEM panel either.
