Hi - I'm new to this forum and Celica - I love the car, bought it a couple of months ago. It is so light and has a great handling chassis.

I have the 2ZZ-GE engine (140kw).

What I don't like about the engine's characteristics is how the second stage valve lift does not kick in until about 6200rpm. I would prefer it to kick in earlier.

Is it possible to modify this. If so, how? Can it be done by doing a new ECU, or does it require CAM mods to engine?

Also, is it possible to improve the torque and power of the motor at lower revs with a different ECU?

Thank you in anticipation of your response

Hey, welcome!

Glad you're enjoying your recent purchase. Your guess is correct, the only tried and true method for modifying lift engagement is a new ECU. Apexi makes a good one and there are a few others out there.
