I read some posting regarding the sports m. Some info posted weren't accurate. My ride is the limited edition celica TRD spec sports m (1200 units worldwide).
The sports M is basically an enhancement from the J-spec SS2 (GTS) super strut version. In Japan, 4 version of the celica were produced. SS1 (GT), SS2 (GTS), SS2 super strut and the TRD sports m.
Main difference between SS2 and a super strut SS2 is a 1) sports metal pedal 2) Stiffer suspension/damper 3) LSD 4) bigger turning radius and heavier weight. Power 190bhp
The sports M is build on top of the Super Strut
1) TRD tuned ECU (more aggressive fuel map) 2) Reinforced chasis (spot welded on the A frame and rear frame) 3) Full TRD suspension ( coile, damper, front sway bar ) 4) Rear 2 point mounted strut bar 5) TRD Sports meter 6) TRD short shifter 7) TRD cat back exhaust 8) TRD steering wheel. 9) Unique TRD body kit
We all know the hp wat about the torque? Has it changed any?
Both Torque and hp is raised. I should have a dyno chart lying some where... if I found it I will post it up.
Sports M catalog indicate a torque figure of 188N/M
Comparing to a stock GTS, the sports M pulls better on the top end RPM range. And for some reason the third gear of the sports m is much powerful than that of a GTS.
hey I got that same exact car and color in Gran Turismo 3! thats one awesome ride! I love the seats...is there any way I can get them here in the states?

I have a white one in GT3
I don't think you can get those seats anywhere other than Japan.
What am I missing? Those seats are the same as mine. They're like that on all T Sport models only instead of cheapy looking material they're leather. All the blue touches are exactly how Ford ruined the interior of the RS Focus. Personally I don't like it, and why most people criticised Ford for the interior.
Nice color blue though, its unique, but I still prefer the dark blue of my car. Prefer my standard wheels too.
Note: these are just my opinions. Please don't hate on me for expressing them
Hi, ive recently bought a jdm 190 celica, and after getting it i noticed a rear strut brace. Does that nescessarily mean sports m or was that an option on all cars?
The rear strut brace does not necessarily indicate it is a Sports M model. There are quite a few other differences and I imagine it would be clear if it was in fact a Sports M model. The Sports M model would also have a special badge.
The rear strut brace was an option and is still available at some places online.
Hope that helps.

I know I am asking this 2 decades later: What is the top speed? That one question has been nagging my mind about the Celica TRD Sports M made for JDM. Looking at the Speedo: 240kph, and I and confused. 1. Does it actually go the top speed 240 or is it speed-limited to 180kph by Japanese laws? 2. If speed-limited, has anyone got a "quick-fix"?
