My 2000 Celica recently won't let me shift out of park. Engine runs fine. Here's what I've tried:
* replaced brake (Stop) light fuse, it was fine
*I checked the brake switch which appears to work, as do my brake lights
*I've tried the shift lock override button, but no luck

I think it's an electrical issue, the car was running totally fine, transmission seemed to be working perfectly, then I stopped and put it in park, and it wouldnt shift back out. It was a really hot day. Any suggestions? I don't know what else to check at this point

Is your steering wheel tight in either the left or right position? Can you at least turn your wheels in either direction when your Celica is turned on, regardless of being in park.

No, the steering wheel isn't tight wheels are currently straight and I can turn the wheel in either direction without trouble
