Hi Folks

There doesn't seem to be much activity here these days but hopefully someone will chime in.

Recently I added a stock spoiler to my gen 7 Celica.

Prior to these my gas struts on the bootlid, were not performing anyway so the boot would sag when you opened it.

Can anyone who perhaps has a stock spoiler like in the image attached, tell me what gas rating there struts are?? As I am about to order a new pair from an engineering company they need to know how much to put in the struts...

There are THREE different types of stock Liftgate/Trunk Support Assembly (shocks) available for the 7th gen Toyota Celica.

A) WITHOUT WING economy/weakest.
These are the stock shocks used with Celica sold without a wing.

B) WITH WING Standard.
If you have the stock Celica wing, and no rear wiper. These are the most common on the GT with wings. Most aftermarket shocks use the same gas pressure as these. They should last you for about 5 to 10 years in standard weather conditions, and then they will show their age.

C) WITH WING & WITH REAR WIPER luxury/strongest.
These are the most common on the GT-S with wings and wiper assembly. This is also the set that comes standard when you purchase the Action Package (aka TRD) Wing.

I recommend these (C) if you live in very cold / very hot changing weather such as Las Vegas / Montreal.
I also recommend these (C) if you have a lesser variation and they are failing.

There is no fun in grabbing something from inside your trunk, only to have it slowly creep down on to the top of your head, or worse, not stay up. A set of weak/failing trunk lifts make it difficult to access your trunk storage.

Genuine Toyota prices are about $90 - $150 USD, per each side.
Aftermarket prices start at $20 USD and go up, per each side.

Thanks for that man....I just trying to figure out what gas rating I need in my new struts,so the engineers can do it....I guess it would be option C then,as I added the oem spoiler myself at a later date and it has a wiper too :P
