Purchased 2003 Celica GT. It is loud, but that is ok because it is Celica loud
. Took it to my mechanic and had it checked out before purchasing and was told it was in great shape. Have had it for about 2 months. Took it to the car wash Saturday and got the works, which includes undercarriage wash. I have started noticing that sometimes when I come to a stop while in drive, it sounds like a diesel engine! If I turn on the AC, the engine will sound like the normal Celica engine and the diesel sound/vibration stops (side note, the engine does bog down a little at when I am stopped at a light or something when the AC is on). It will also, sometimes, make this diesel sound when I put it in park, but not always. When I accelerate, the noise goes away. I do notice that if I come to a hard stop, it usually doesn't make that sound. If I take my foot of the gas and let it coast or slow down slowly, I do hear that same diesel sound. I will say, this car did not make this noise until I had it washed Saturday, and I noticed it the next time I drove it. I am wondering if that undercarriage wash loosened something up...
