Just picked up a 2005 toyota celica...what a beautiful drive.
Please help me get rid of the smell from the previous owner. Smells of cigarettes/cigars and pet dog. Yes i will give it a good clean this weekend, however the smell comes out from the air vents also. I dont use AC.
I have read about Air Bombs and spraying disinfectant by the air vent grill by the windscreen on the outside? i also read that after a couple days before the smell tends comes back.
How can i get rid of the smell please? its causing discomfort, living in England with the rain its difficult to just keep the windows open without the rain coming into the car.
Do you plan to take it to a professional car detailer, where they specialize in this sort of thing -- and have all the tools and chemicals to perform it
Was going to give it a clean myself, but I think I may need to. Was hoping to just pick something up after work to get rid of the smell in the mean time. Do you think its worth to get it professionally cleaned ? Really wouldnt mind to learn how to do this. Finally have a car I really want to take care of.
Before professional cleaning, try replacing the cabin air filter, running the AC through for a while, and leaving the windows down. Arm & Hammer makes special scent absorbing baking soda that I've found to work as well. Be sure to wipe down all the plastics and vacuum up any ash. You can scrub your seats with a carpet cleaner or use a steamer if you've got one. Keeping air fresheners in the car will also help. The big causes of the scent lingering are the seats and carpet. Hit those hard.

Just looked up the cabin filter for the celi so I will definitely pick one up, curious to see the state of the current one actually. The car is relatively clean, but cant wait to get rid of the smell. Looking forward to the weekend to give her a clean. I am looking for a good local valet company to give it a full velvet, should be easier to maintain once its done professionally in a couple weeks. Thanks for posting, great points you made and very helpful. Thank you.

Hi You dont happen to know or can advise on the part number for the air cabin filter. Just spend the last hour on ebay UK and getting over whelmed. The results for air cabin filters come up but different sizes. Is there a part number I can search for ?
Replaced the cabin filter. I have added pics. It was in quiet a disgusting state, so thanks for the heads up in getting it replaced. Not yet done a steam clean on the seats yet..but gave her a clean and the smell for now has gone away. Thanks
