Hi folks
a short while ago my 2004 Celica popped it's blower resistor during a period of heavier than usual usage of the air-con.
I only had 2 speeds, fast and really fast. I ordered up a replacement from Alibaba which duly arrived and I installed it (yes I know it's a cheaper alternative ). It seems to work fine, I have four speeds on my blower again and the vents all blow nicely. However, the resistor assembly gets hot really quickly even on low speed settings. we're talking can't touch it hot.
I know the blower draws a lot of current but I'm worried about the resistor either burning out again or worse....igniting or melting cables.

My question is does the resistor normally get so hot and does anyone know a typical current drain for the various speed settings through the resistor?

Thanks folks.....

Phil
