VVT-i engine has sludge and oil consumption problem.

VVTL-i is a lot better engine. I have 320K miles on mine, all original, no problems, still smooth and strong like new.

The VVT-i oil consumption problem may be fixed by flushing then engine and dissolve any carbon deposits on oil return holes on piston and on piston rings with a product like Motor Medic's GUNK. You may have to flush a few times to completely dissolve hardened carbon deposits.

I'm considering buying a Celica right now...Does the sludge problem affect all years of the VVT-i engine? I don't see many complaints of it on the later models.
