So I go to back out of my driveway. Shifts into reverse fine. I go to put it in first and my shifter didn't feel right. Was moving around more freely than usual. I managed to get it into first, but then couldn't get it out of it. I managed to get it out of first the next day after playing around with the linkage but now the shifter moves fine side to side, but it's extremely tough to move it front to back. I'm thinking it's a linkage problem but I honestly don't know a lot about transmissions and gearboxes. This is my daily driver and I've got no backups so the sooner I can fix this problem, the better. If anyone has any suggestions or at least could help me pinpoint the problem, it would be much appreciated. I'm missing work because of this.

Thanks in advance

Check your shifter linkage bushings, they might be worn or have popped out of place. This video should help:
