Is it safe to run my gts without the ECU cooling intake pipe. Reason for asking is that I Didint do such a good job cutting it when installing my Injen CAI and I have seen some pics of celicas without them so let me know.

no its not safe. what i did was cut the tubing off about 2" past were it connects at the top and bottom then took a 1" vacume tube and used the two clamps to connect them together. works good

umm its not right because you will get a CEL because of the ECU not being cooled properly. I wouldnt recommend it.

Don't risk it... not cheap replacing the ECU if it malfunction from improper cooling.

I used to have and Injen CAI. When I decided to remove it I was left with a mangled ECU cooling tube.
My temp fix was to join the pieces back together and route it out under the headlight. I ran it like that through all of July and August with temperatures reaching well into the 90s and even 100 on a few days. My ECU seems to have survived. I have since replaced the ECU cooling tube with a new from the Toyota dealership.

Here is a zoom from the parts manual (which you can find somewhere on this site). You want parts number 10 and 11, there not that expensive compared to the price of a new ECU.

I think the bottom of my tube is just flopping around, is it supposed to be connected somewhere by the radiator?

yeah the bottom pops into the bottom of the fan assembly. Kind of a pain to get it but it pops in.

Sorry to post here so I hope you dont care too much; If my e-Manage is right underneath the ecu cover can I even use the tube and any other opinions on if the cooling tube is needed? the e-manage is a piggyback, you can't fit the e-manage inside the ecu box along with your factory ecu. The e-manage unit will go in the passenger compartment.
I get my kicks on EC.

Yeah I meant right next to the ecu box under it. Is it okay not to be using the ecu cooling tube???

is there anything that you can do to make it cooler, if its anything like a PC the cooler it runs the faster and more efficiently it performs. This is just a thought, but I doubt theres any performance value in this.

From What i have got from the people that already posted its not safe, I would agree its not worth it to not have it in its place. It would be cheaper to spend $40 or so on a replacement cooling pipe then spend $1000+ on a melted ECU lol

Yeah but the people have basically said they dont recommend it. I want to know if it is worth the hassle of buying a new one and moving my e-Manage. It seems like a lot of people have run without it and have been just fine. I know the whole time I had an intake I never got a CEL so I know it has been fine for at least a year.

I recently bought a cold air intake that makes it nearly impossible to reconnect the ECU hose. What would you suggest? should I buy some piping to redirect it around the intake? I have been running it without the ECU for a couple weeks with temperatures around 30 degrees.
