i got this 2005 toyota celica red edition Today and its in pretty good condition, small amount of rust underneath and a minimal amout of scratches on the front and rear bumper, whoever baught it in 2005 opted for most of the extras like the TTE exhaust and the Bumper lip and sterio system, the car had 137000 mi on it, the only thing that concerned me was that they didnt have any info on whether the timing chain had been done previously, i paid €3400.
forgot to mention its only 140hp version

This car looks good.

The timing chain should last the life of the car. A lot other parts would break well before the chain. If it's ever stretched and loose, you would hear a lot of rattling and engine would run very rough especially at high RPMs.

I have a Celica GTS Auto with 335K miles all original. The engine, transmission and the whole car still run smooth and strong, no major problems so far, routinely cruise at triple digits on long trips.

Overheating is the worst scenario which can damage the engine. Check engine temp gauge occasionally when you five, and every time you raise the hood, check coolant level and any signs of coolant leakage, and replace any hoses with leaks. You don't want to overheat the engine on the road. That said, mine overheated 3 times due to broken serpentine belt, and broken coolant hoses, engine still runs smooth and strong.

Check oil level and add when low. Flush engine with Motor Medic GUNK to clean any carbon deposits and sludge to improve compression and lubrication. Engine will run better and last longer.

I would say that is a good deal. The seats really make it pop plus it is a manual. The miles mean it will go for ages. You will probably get bored of it or sell it before it gives you any major issues.
