Hey everyone, I have a 2003 Toyota Celica GT 5-speed with 138000 miles, I have a clicking sound from 2000-4000 rpm. I have changed the serpentine belt, belt tensioner arm, timing chain tensioner, and valve cover.

Happens in all gears 1-5/R/N
Example: if I am driving in 3rd gear at 3000rpm, and hearing the sound, if I take my foot off the gas it goes away, as soon as I give it more gas it starts up again until after the 4000rpm mark (roughly)

I first changed spark plugs before anything else, I noticed this clicking/knock/rattle shortly after that (maybe 1-2 days later) could this be a spark knock?

I read on other threads that it could be one of two things
1: a bad valve lifter which can cause the ticking. Get a bottle of engine treatment and see if anything changes. It's basically the engine version of WD-40, run it in your oil and see if anything changes after some driving
2: This is a shot in the dark but it can potentially be an exhaust leak. Use a spray bottle under your car and try to spot bubbles.

Hey thank you for the reply, I was just about to come with the update haha.

So I found the problem, it was a spun rod bearing on my forth cylinder. I went ahead and changed all the bearings. There was no damage on the crankshaft so I tested my clearance and it was all within spec. Now she runs fine and no problems.
