i just installed my indiglo gauge and wired everything all up , power from the cig lighter and grounded it... now my speedometer doesnt work????? angry
can anyone help me?
also, if i put the knob to the color blue, there is a whining sound from the black box where all the wires connect to (transformer?)
only when its on blue though, when its on green, there is no noise coming from it...its a faint whining noise that's very very annoying.. i checked multiple grounds and its all the same.
but i definitely need help with the speedometer, i dont know what happened, i carefully placed the gauge over the stock one with the needles still atatched and everything...crap this realllly sucks angry

As far as the whining sound when the color is set to "blue" hell ya...mine does the same thing. No clue why it does this but it gets drowned out by other noise pretty well. If your speedo isn't working, check the two plugs in the back of your instrument cluster and make sure they're plugged in nice and tight. Also unless the overlay is 110% flat over your existing gauges the needle can get "stuck" on a little bulge in the overlay. Hope any of this helps thumbsup

Yes, make sure the needle isn't sticking - that is a common problem with indiglos.

Yes, I assumed you would've done that in the first place. didn't it come with double sided tape?

Check it...although it should come with double sided tape, there's no way in hell you need it. As I was putting the gauge cluster back together i just kept on pressing it down as I tightened everything back up, and then I'd gently move the needles through their entire range to make sure they weren't stuck...are you sure the connectors are tight?

the gauge didnt come with tape, and the gauge is not bulging anywhere... the connecters were in tight, and i don't know why the speedo isn't working. the tach seems to be working fine, but i think it's a little off now since i've been fooling around with it trying to fix the damn gauge.
this sucks! i want my speedo working cry

Just to clarify...what type of overlays did you install? This might help. Shit dude, seeing as none of the mechanical or electrical working of your existing gauges have been altered this is pretty trippy. Can you move your speedo manually? If you can and it's still not working, then there's actually going to be a problem with your existing gauges I guess. Good luck confused

i used reverse indiglo gauges that i got off ebay.. the speedo only moves when i have the key in the accessory/on/start position to reset itself when i plug the two connectors in... the tach works , but then when i try to back up or drive, the speedo shows 0 mph, so im stuck!
i already reset the ecu... i think it's something to do with the tach wires or the circuit board? even though i didnt mess with it...man this freakn sucks... i dont know what else to do, and i dont want to take it to Toyota, i dont wanna get a new instrument cluster either...

Have you driven fast and seen what happened to the speedo? Could take a little burst of speed to get that beatch movin. The only other thing I can suggest is remove all evidence of installing aftermarket gauges...and run crying to your nearest Toyota dealership cry cry cry and tell them this problem came out of nowhere. Then save up a few $$$ and buy the reverse indiglos from the ECelica store which IMO are obviously superior cause I don't think they've wrecked anyone's shit yet. Sorry bro. frown
