Cuz your dealer probably put them on.
Sorry, but I don't like 'em even though they do serve a purpose (keeping the door dings away).

Yeah, it depends on whether it's attached with glue or whether they drilled into your door.
Maybe you could check with the dealer you bought the car from?

Some dealers put all sorts of stuff on the car you buy, and just say "we put it on for free" and "you got a good deal". But then say they would have to charge extra to remove the stuff from your car. If wanted, just spend a few minutes taking all the unwanted "free trim" off your car by following the same procedure as if you were to debadge... https://celicahobby.com/ubbthreads/thread.f_56934_0_collapsed_2__1.htmlThis works best when your car's body is warm... park it in the sun for a few hours, so that panels are pleasantly warm to the touch - this will make the rubber adhesive tape that they used, much easier to remove

Oh well, according to the dealer it was the only TRD Banana that they had.

dude, I want a set of those moldings, I'm sick of the morons in parking lots opening their doors without giving a crap about the cars they're parked next to, it's a miracle my doorskins are as clean as they are still. I've already got a few barely noticable ripples in spots where they've been "bumped" by indifferent morons. the steel on the doors is thin, and about as tough as an empty beer can.
Mind you, I don't want to actually tape them on permenantly, instead, I want to get some adhesive backed magnetic strip instead, and just attatch them to the sides of the car while it's parked in a lot. a layer of thin felt over the backside will keep it from scratching anything up.
I doubt anybody would want to try stealing them, since most will assume they're glued to the body anyways. When I drive, I'll remove them & throw them in the cargo area in the rear hatch. If by chance somebody swipes them, no major loss. Interesting idea, Eh?
Will the dealership have those, or are they 3rd party pieces?

All I have to say is the person who came up with door molding for the celica need to be shot. They don't do crap, the actual door sticks out about 2inches more than the molding. Thats the first thing gets ding. look at picture.
And is it me or just the GT have them, because all the GTS i've seen don't have them.
Has anybody actually had they molding removed?

The dealer I bought my celi from had a red GT with the door molding on it, but I specifically told them I didn't want that on my car.

Has anybody actually had they molding removed? It's just you, either model can have them as they are a dealer installed option (as discussed above). But as you point out, they're pretty much worthless.. and ugly!
