A guy buys a EVO and goes to a local gas station and revs on a group of people. A friend asks to go for a ride. Guy takes the friend on a 140mph drift and barely makes it. 2 hours later the guy tries it again... this time it was wet outside, looses the car and smashes into a tree going 140mph plus. The passenger was severely injured and the driver last I heard (which was about 3 months ago) was dying on life support.
Guys bottom line...
this is what happens when a moron tries to show off, not only did he seriously injure himself, but also his passenger. Going into Inertia Drifts at 140mph into a tree is never healthy.

You are correct! Just making sure someone was paying attention! Car and Driver voted the Toyota Prius as their car of the year and Automobile magazine voted the EVO as their car of the year.

that is horrible, and it doesnt look like the guy really survived. but in the other hand, this doesnt really get in my brain that easy. i mean wheres the top unless they cut it so they can take him out. i wouldnt think a tree would be that hazardous and strong, and the car is also hit from the back. did anything happen to the tree? if its real, then that tree shoud win an award, and i feel horrible for the ppl inside. just a reminder for us not to drive too crazy. one in a million, wut is the air filter doing like that on the ground. how did it break out of the box and fell like that. how come the hood is not in as bad condition as the car itself. i guess jesse james has a new competition, salvage this car!

i thought the prius won?
Wait a second, the Prius was MotorTrend's Car of the Year.
not only did i not know there were neon clubs, but i also didnt know their owners could - 1.speak english 2.use a computer 3.drive a manual 4.add gas to their cars 5.read a book 6.date anyone besides their cousin 7.marry anyone that was not their cousin twice removed 8.make 20 minute..minute rice 9.hit a parked car and the number 10. Drive such a piece of shit that have the nerve to talk a hell of a lot of mess about celicas, in which we could out handle, and smoke in any style or race competition.

Ever see a car after it plows into a deer? It gets just as mangled. it doesn't shock me that a tree of that size could tear up that EVO so bad. He might as well have hit a steel-reinforced concrete post at that speed.
Trees are very resilient, patient, and are natural survivors, we could learn a thing or two from them
140 MPH is WAAAAY too fast for a drift. Stupid movies (cough cough...2f2f cough) and their stupid product-placing sponsors put ideas into people's heads. I doubt that driver was all that experienced from the look of the pics and the backstory I read. Some people shouldn't drive performance cars period. I must admit that even I would be a bit cautious when behind the wheel of an Evo Lancer, A driver needs to be prepared for anything, and make calculated choices rather than take stupid risks.
Long story short, the driver had no buisness behind the wheel of that perticular car, and when he pressed his luck, showing off in that Evo, he might as well have put a gun to his own temple and squeezed the trigger. I have little remorse for him being dead, although it's tragic that one person had to die, and he had to mangle himself to the brink of death as well, just to satisfy his own ego.
Don't let these people die in vain, Learn something from this person's mistake and think before you act. And if you decide to really push the limits of you and your vehichle, do it in a safe and legal fashion, take it to the track, strip, or autocross event. Don't put yourselves, and all the others out there at risk just to satisfy your thirst for speed. Just use your head... That's all.
My condolences to the families of the victims involved.
that is a messed up picture with the blood in it. and some nasty pics. The EVO 8 is prolly one of the best handling cars out there.. beating the porsche on a track that hasn't been beaten in years. You are pretty stupid to go 140 mph around a turn and live once... but to do it twice. WOW... i just hope the guy survives anyway.
Did the victim survive? If so, how badly was he/she hurt? I'm very interested to know how safe these types of cars are...
there is no stock car on earth that is made to hit a tree at 140mph. the passenger and driver are most likely dead.
I saw this linked to the 2gNT board, so I thought I would chime in with an update...
This was my friend Jake's Evo. It happened here in Colorado. The accident happened 3 days after he bought the car. He had just installed the 4 point harnesses that afternoon.
Some of the facts in the story about this accident were incorrect, so let me clarify. First, the passenger had minor injuries, some bruising and needed a couple of stitches. Jake shattered his femur, broke both legs, and had numerous cuts and bruises. He did wake up from his coma about 4 weeks after the accident. He is now walking with a cane. He is also aware that what he did was stupid and considers himself and his passenger very lucky.
Here's a pic of his car parked next to my Eclipse about 5 hours before the accident happened. It sure was a beautiful car...
I'm so sorry that this had to happen - I am glad that both persons are OK and that no one died because of the crazy driving stunt.
If anything is to come from this story and the pictures - i hope at the very least that someone realizes how dangerous high speeds actually are AND how extremely lucky that the driver and passenger of this vehicle are to still be alive - and most importantly, how lucky the family and friends of these persons are, to still have them in their lives.
Thanks for the update 'BoostedGS'

Damn drifting at 140mph on open roads? Thats nutz. I thought driving 140 in a straight line was pushin it.
Q: How do you double the value of a Ford? A: You put gas in it.
DAMN!! That really looks bad. You can even see blood on the drivers seat. As improvible as it is, I hope the person(s) survived.
yea it looks bad, im just thinkin' bout the person

Damn thats a fuck up crashed right there if you all wanna se bad wrecks you can go to www.wreckedexotics.com [wreckedexotics.com] and see some real crashes, enjoy and learn
man fuck all those other forums talking shit about us wen they have pplz in there own forums making fun of the crash im glad the driver and the passenger are alive hope we all learn a lesson
my bf drives an evo and he tends to show off too..as many times as i try to tell him don't be a fawken idiot..i feel he won't learn until sumthin bad happens..
I just want to clear up some things about an Evo. 1st, it's one of the safest cars out there receiving a 5 out of 5 on all crash test except one and it got a 4 on that test. The Car is designed to take a majority of the impact in an accident and that is why when you wreck a car they look as bad as they do. 2nd, I considered buying a Celica, STI, neon SRT and a Tiburon before deciding to go with the EVO. The only car that came close was the STI followed by the Tiburon, Celica, and you couldn't give me a neon. The STI runs and handles great but the Evo just felt better and I couldn't find a dealership to drop below 35K when I was ready to buy a car. The Tiburon and Celica are great cars but shouldn't be compared to an EVO or STI and the neon while really torque is pretty much a POS and it depreciates about 12k the first year. 3rd you should never drift at more that 60 or 70 MPH and only try it in a rear wheel drive car not an all wheel drive car. The last thing I will say is if any parent is considering getting an EVO or STI for their children you should think twice about it. These cars are not for novice drivers, buy them a Celica or a Tiburon as these cars don't have near the power the EVO and STI have. I'm not a hater of any car but for the money I feel the EVO is the best bang for your buck.
you guys read some of the posts on that redneck truck forum?

"I love watching these cars die [it seems like a crap load of them get trashed] DIE MITSUBISHI DIE!!!!!!!"
The reason a lot of EVOs are wrecked is because people don't know how to drive a car that has that much power and handles as good as it does.
PS: Sickcelica696 what kind of person are you to enjoy seeing people wreck their cars, in my opinion you are nefarious miscreant and should probably be put to sleep like a rabid dog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
