I have a 2000 GTS and the cd player seems to skip alot. I used a cd cleaner disc, but it still skipped afterwards. Any way to fix this?

Sounds like it needs some basic calibration done to it. If Toyota won't fix it, try taking it to an audio store and see if they can re-calibrate it.

I had the same problem, i went to the dealer and i was out of warnenty by a few months, so they refered me to a 3rd party auido place. they wanted to rip me off on a repair, so i just pulled an sony X plode head unit from one of my dads old cars and installed it in the celica, i was able to yank out the 10 changer also, and all the wiring... Cheapest stero mod out of pocket yet!, plus its 10 times better then stock!!!!
If the 3rd party dealer wants anymore more than 50, to just look at the stero, your going to be out of atleast 100 to get it fixed, so just see what he/she is charging, Then look into an upgraded head unit (happy holidays, there gonna be cheap tomarrow)

my stock cd player stopped working (didnt' just skip) but instead of taking it to an audio shop and spending at least 20 or 30 bucks to get it fixed...i'm just putting it towards a pioneer aftermarket head.
you can get cd heads for $50 that are better than the stock ones...i'd recommend just forking up some extra money and a little more for the installation and have something worthwhile instead of fixing something that sucks anyway.
and if you ever expand your system to include subs...you'll need to buy a new headunit anyway.
just my 2 cents.

Headunits have gotten so cheap lately. Now you can get a good Headunit for 200 bucks and a 30 disc changer for 150.

I put a Kenwood DPX-MP4030 in my GT a while back, and I love it. It's a CD/Cassette/MP3 w/ color changing display & remote. Crutchfield wants $450 but I found one on ebay for $300. May find one for less now. Still not a cheap solution, but it's a head unit I highly recommend.
