Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior sub box help

im about to take on the task of building and wireing my entire stereo system. i want something like the box design in the pic below i found on the site. im going to be putting a 12" in each side of the box and building a false floor to mount the amps in with a peice of fiberglass over it so you can see the amp and probably put a neon in there too. what i want to know is if i build a custom box from medium density fiberboard will the subs sound like crap if i dont get the exact amount of space the subs need in the box? this has been bothering me alot. i was thinking of just gettin like three 12" boxes from like walmart or best buy and hooking them together. im gonna build the false floor myself though. any help would be great. btw i know fiberglass is an excellent way to go but i dont have the cash to have one built.

they will sound alright...but nowhere near as good as they can potentially, you should measure the cubic inches that you need and construct a box that meets what the sub needs. You can still have the design of the pic you posted but maybe make some adjustments to it.
