Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior loud popping sound from exhaust...

couple times a day.. when im driving.. my exhaust will make a loud pop! pop! sound.. and sometimes little pops.. when i let my friend drive my car..and when it pops loud.. like a little fire ball shoots out.. what does this mean?

i didnt take off my cat, i have a race resonator and a apexi n1 catback with 2.5inch piping..

hmm..I think that its back firing..not sure what the problem is though. Did this just start out of nowhere? how long did you have it on until this started?

Did you mess with your timing? Is it popping when you let off the gas?

did you mess with your ignition wires? if they are touching each other that could be the problem. i believe the engine is too new to have a problem.

i didnt touch anything, its been doing this since i got my exhaust like 5-6 months ago. yeah it does pop when i let off the gas a little.

I also think that is back firing. The simptomes are like that.(high flow exhaust, poping sound when you release the gas)
You have modifyed one part of the comlete system. I think you'd need some tuning (fuel-air,air intake).If it's possible.
I like that sound, it gives me a "racing car feeling".

Its normal don't worry about it... all cars do that expecially when RPM's decline... its really obvious when you dont have anything pass the headers... you'll downshift and then you'll hear POP POP POP

you might be running rich check your air/fuel ratio

i got the same problem i got veilside exhaust no biggyu i kinda like the sound
