75w90 GL4 or GL5 gear oil, or Redline 75w95NS oil (NOT REDLINE 75w90)!!
Just make sure that it's good for syncros.

Also, I have looked everywhere for Redline and havn't found it. Let me know if and where you do.

Manual Transaxle:

1ZZ-FE engine: 1.9L
2ZZ-GE engine: 2.3L

Oil Type: Gear oil API GL-4 or GL-5
Recommended oil viscosity: SAE 75W-90

Automatic Transaxle:

1ZZ-FE engine: Up to 2.9L
2ZZ-GE engine: Up to 4.0L

Automatic Transmission fluid 'Type T-IV'
Change Automatic Transmission fluid only as necessary

When changing the Automatic Transmission fluid, use only Toyota Genuine AFT Type T-IV (ATF JWS3309 or NWS6500) to aid in assuring optimum transaxle performance.

[b]Notice: Using Automatic Transmission fluid other than Toyota Genuine AFT Type T-IV may cause deterioration in shift quality, locking up of your transmission accompanied by vibration, and ultimately damage the automatic transmission of your Celica.

How often do you need to change your transmission oil? Is it something a shop needs to do, or can it be a DIY maintenance?

Redline MT90 thumbsup

the 'normal' change interval i think is every 30,000...

you can do it yourself... much like an oil change, its under the left engine plastics... just get a funnel and about 2 ft of hose...
