Hey everyone, could anyone distinguish between a real trd bodykit(+rear spoiler) and a "not real(fiberglass)" trd bodykit(+rear spoiler) if you put them next 2 each other & just by looking at? ie is there any difference between them other than one is made from polyurethane and one from fiberglass? And i have another quest, do you know any address(website or not) that makes a trd body kit with polyurethane or any with fiberglass? Pls give me ur answers. 10x a lot

The only difference, if they look the same, is how they will wear over time. The urethane tends to crack while the fiberglass just kinda chips a lil. Unless you get a shitty replica.

Unless you get a shitty replica. actually urethane tends NOT to crack and fiberglass tends to crack. painted fiberglass tends to chip while painted urethane tends to peel in patches. for more about urethane vs fiberglass, you can view this: ecelica.com: the truth about urethane and fiberglass

Which do you prefer? Urethane or Fiberglass? urethane. its usually heavier than name brand fiberglass body kits (most notable body kit companies that produce fiberglass kits use produce 'thin fiberglass kits' as opposed to many replicas who use thick, and therefore heavier, fiberglass kits).but it's hard as hell to crack (it can bend). it also costs a little more to paint, but if you do it right it won't 'peel away in patches'. also, another problem with urethane is that in extreme heat it can warp. that said, i think the advantages of urethane far outweigh the disadvantages and thats why i'll stick with urethane.

On or off the car? Painted or unpainted?
Unpainted - urethane will be black and fiberglass will be white or yellowish or something like that. Basically not black =P
Painted - I don't know.
If you can feel them then it should be clear. Fiberglass feels thinner and maybe more stiff while urethane is bendable and feels "plasticky" err whatever

Oh and if given the choice and assuming you have adequate funds, I would go with urethane - genuine TRD over fiberglass. Fiberglass is prone to cracking plus usually, if the kits aren't made too well, will not simply bolt on your ride without some fiberglass work by a body shop or yourself. Urethane will install out the box on your car assuming it's TRD.

I've been trying to find an authentic TRD kit for a few weeks now. First, the dealer said it'll cost $4,000. Then they said it'll cost $1,900. And now...they said that TRD does not make kits for Celicas anymore...I'm lost.

definite urethane for the front bumper. fiberglass gets cold and will shatter very easily also when temp drops below freezing w/ fiberglass the paint will spyder. urethane is much better. you should be able to tell that in the prices. when itcomes to body kits. you get what you pay for! and stay away from ebay body kits. wingswest it self makes replica or the trd kit. looks are extremely close and WingsWest is the best in after market body kits. though becareful for knockoffs. Looking to sale my trd kit if someone is close enough to WV to pick it up.
