i have seen this question SOOOO many times. just do a serch through the forums, and find some other posts about the subject. but anyways, you will get 2 ansers, first: it would make more sence to trade your car in for a manual, and second: it will cost more than what its worth (about 2500$)

although the above statements are true, i still wonder about the actual cost.
i mean, what if a user had a very nice customized car..but it was an auto and he finally wanted to change it? it wouldnt make sense to sell it. whatever it is in this case--i do not know...but i think we should try and get some #'s sooner or later (hopefully sooner). sorry for the philosophic lecture, but i just think at some point we need to support the question..and get some dollar figures.

If you want it that badly, trade your car in on a manual.

according to a user on another celica enthusiast site...he was quoted an installation cost of 2k-5k just for installation obviously, parts will be more...the most expensive thing would be the transmission itself, you will also need a few more basic parts such as brake and clutch pedal clutch resevoir clutch shift linkage shifter as well as many more nitpicky parts...i know guesses don't do any good (so you might want to call a body shop that can do this--and don't forget to post back what estimate would be!) but i would say that if you can get installation done for 2k, you could get the parts for about 2k-3k. so you're looking at about 4-5 grand total.
