well because i didn't have the grades my parents wanted, so bye bye celica. ok so 2 years and 5 months ago my dad lost his job, but didn't diserve it, so after fighting it out in court with the post office, he got his job back w/ full back pay incl. over time about 2 months ago. thats when i got my celica, however it wasn't technicly mine, my parents did lease to own thing. after i had it for six months the title would be handed to me and it pretty much be my graduation present. this is why i said i couldn't mod until this summer. i would not want to invest money into something that i may not even get to keep. but now it is being taken away, and i am back driving my riced out corolla. if i have decent grades and can still go to my local collage for free(it's a free tuition program for anyone in my county, Lauderdale, as long as you hace a C average), then i will still get a 00-01 gts celica and this time it won't be leased. because by then my dad would have recieved the check for around $110,000 and gotten completely out of debt. so my plans have pretty much stayed the same, i just dobn't get to drive a celica until then or at least a 7th gen. i may have found a great solution, i am trying to sell my car, and i have found a 95 red celica with a 5 speed for only $3800. i am pretty sure i can talk him down to $34-3500 and i can get almost that out of my car. the car already has CAI and a few other mods, but the best part is that i can do what ever i want to it because it will be mine and most likely paid off. i sould find out if i can get it today or the next. it really depends on if someone else buys it first. i have talked my dad into giving me the money from our house loan (he has nearly $15000 left to borrow if he wants) and i will pay him back as soon as my car sells and from my bi-weekly check. so hopefully it will work out ok
sorry for such the long post, wish me luck
last thing, i will be asking many more questions when i get it, but does any one on here have or know much about a 95 celi. it has a 4 cyl and it's RWD but thats all i know, and i'm not even sure what spec it is, is there a GT and GTS or what, i don't know much about older celi, also what gen is it it just says celica on the back, so thanx in advance for any input and help

yeah, i think i driving a POS makes you appreciate the good stuff more, i still drive my 93 grand prix to college every day so i don't skuff up the celli, and believe me, there is no POS bigger than my GP, i'm thankful everyday when the door finally opens after a 5 minute struggle, especially on days like today when the HIGH is -2!!

There is no gts for those model years so a gt is definately the way to go. the GT has a 2.2 litre and the coupe, or ST, has a 1.8 litre. The GT should have a gt emblem on the back unless someone took it off. neither cars have vvt-i. The GT has something like 135-140 HP. Their nice cars and I would definately get one if that is your price range

Yup thats right the best way to tell the ST and GT aparts are by checking the following. ST= Rear Drums, 1.8 liter 110 HP 115TQ (7afe) GT= Rear Disk, 2.2 liter 135 HP 145 TQ (5sfe) now stock these cars where not meant for drag racing but take them to a curvy road and youll be able to keep up if not pass up the competition. as far as motor swaps go the 3sgte motor or 4age vvti motor will be able to fit into these cars but the ST model will need a little more modification. if you need any more info go here www.6gc.net [ 6gc.net]

Lots of people had junkers before buying a celica. Yup 86 pontiac fiero gt with a 5 spd , it was pretty nice, till the alternator gave out and the stero shorted out, so when ever i put new batterys in they would be drained in a week or so, so i gave up and sold it

thanx for all the input, and i will know by tuesday at the latest if i will get it. i ahve driven a POS long enough, and plus i ahve been spoiled with power doors, locks, trunk pop(you have to open the corolla trunk with a key), sunroof, cruise, keyless entry, and manual transmission.
i hate my corolla, it has none of those things, and i drive a lot to gulfport and hattisburg, so no cruise sucks. plus i am used to being able to show off and whoop all the civics in town and i can't do that with the corolla either. and if you think i can't in the 95 celica your wrong because i took it for a test drive and i beat several guys.
i also found out that it is the ST, and i did mean to put FWD i just wasn't paying attention. if i get this i will still not mod much just small things to help customize.
and i also found out the price i can get it for is over a grand less than it's blue book value and $2500 less than retail so i am getting an incredible deal and may be able to make a profit (i will have more trade in value than with the corolla), i def want it. i'll keep you updated.
and only 8 post out of over 100 veiws, thats less than 1 out of 10

well my dad has given me the ok, although my mom is against it. we test drove it yetserday and he liked it, he said he would help me to pay for it so i dn't have a car note, but i still have to pay him back. but since the banks were closed we have to wait until tuesday because that will be my first day off that we can meet, so unless it sells today by 1:00pm or monday, then i will get it at about 1:15 tues.

If you are 18, you haven't driven a POS long enough to appreciate the celica. I drove a hyundai for 4 years...absolute CRAP

I drove a hyundai for 4 years...absolute CRAP I've driven 1988 Accords and Cavs for 6 years now, so I know the feeling of appreciation. Also, since they are both hellaslow cars, I don't feel the Celi is underpowered, its all relative.

thanx for all the coments and help. my dad is amking his final decision today when he goes to test drive it. he was haveing second thoughts after talking to some people this weekend(my uncles). he thought it might be to fast for me and i 'ld kill my self(he never drove my GTS and doesn't realize this celi is not real fast)(part of this misconception also has to do with another guy that test drove it and said "that thing will fly" when he got back) so he will see when he goes today.
also driving a Geo Prizm (practicly a Toyota Corolla for 90-92) for almost 3 years is bad enough for me. it is very slow, but thats not all, i just recently got it painted black with custom silver and candy red graphics, it also has an aluminum wing, and a customized painted red interior. But it has only been like that for about 6 months. i drove it for 2 years when it was faded red (no clear coat), white hood, plus many other prob i don't have time to explain right now because the bell just rang, i have pics at home. it may not be as bad as other cars but i still hate it, plus i will actually make profit off of this celi because it's priced below book value and will have a much higher trade in value.

Just buy the car yourself. End of problem.
