OK so I live in the good ol' state of Washington and during most of the year its rains alot. I was wondering if I should get short ram intake or a Injen CAI with water sheild? Thank in advance!
If you have an automatic-Short ram,If you got manual-CAI. P.S.Short rem dose not do anything...It's just good for the Show. P.P.S.And CAI on automatic-WASTE OF MONEY.
Short ram does give some gains but not as much as CAI. If you are looking for real preformance gains go with the CAI. If you want the sound and a better show piece and dont mind a slight lose of gains go short ram.
On a side note there is really no difference between the CAI and Short ram if you are running stock. You need headers and exhaust for max performance.
you will not hydrolock your car unless you drive through a puddle to completely submerge your filter. besides, if the water DOES get that high to completely submerge your filter, you're stupid for trying to drive through a puddle that deep.
A CAI on an auto is not a waste of money. it'll produce gains also, but what he means is that "auto's are slow so theres use in modding." i don't agree with this.
Also i'm not from washington so i don't know what rain conditions are like out there, but in cali when it pours, there are some floods around my area. Just to play it safe is all. get the CAI but given that hydrrolocking has low occurence i's just like to play it safe.
just to re-itterate on what kim said...there are some places in the valley that when it really really rains it just loooks like you're driving on a sheet of glass...then suddenly there is a deep puddle and you find yourself in deep water. was i stupid to not know there was a puddle there? of course not because the road looks the samefrom every angle...had i had a CAI i would have been in trouble. thank god it has never rained like that again...
depends how much it rains...a little water won't hurt it...just don't go through made crazy puddles...and stuff... so when you drive, think about how much rain is on the road...then you'll know
i've had a CAI for a while... it's AEM... driven through the worst rain i've ever seen in my life (had no choice) and my car was fine... just make sure and know the roads you're driving on and try to stay away from where puddles could be... so in otherwords... i'd get the CAI... it sounds better and adds more hp...
